Zimbabwe Context
Devil's Claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) is harvested in western Zimbabwe and the Kalahari borderlands for its potent anti-inflammatory properties. It is exported internationally and also sold domestically at herbal markets for arthritis and joint pain. Willow bark (Salix mucronata), found along Zimbabwe's river systems, is used as a natural analgesic by both Shona and Ndebele traditional healers.
